right click on the folder / properties / autoarchive and set the

then tools / options/other and schedule the autoarchive to run
Just be sure when using auto-archiving that the global archiving
interval is equal to or LESS than the *shortest* archive interval that
you configure on any folder. Say you configure the archive interval
on a folder as 5 days but you configure the global archive operation
to run every 10 days. Well, the archiving won't run every 5 days but
every 10 days. That means items that are *eligible* after 5 days in
the folder will not get archived until another 5 days later. For
whatever is the shortest archive interval that you configure in any
folder, set the global archive interval to that, or less. I just set
the global archive interval to 1 day since that is the shortest that
any folder can be configured.
For the spam/junk/bulk folder, and because it is unlikely that you
want to keep them but rather want to delete them, use auto-archiving
to permanently delete the crap.
At 40 spams per hour, I suspect the OP has not been careful as to whom
he has divulged his e-mail address.
