how do I send a publisher newsletter to categories in outlook

M

MagicDowden

I have spent the last two days trying to do this so PLEASE someone help me.
I have been asking microsoft assistants all day but don't seem to be getting
anywhere.
I have produced an email newsletter in publisher. I want to send the email
as a page but I want to send different newsletters to different categories in
my outlook contacts.
The whole point of categorizing my contacts was that I wanted to send
relevant newsletters to the relevant contacts, not just sending each letter
to everyone.
Is there anyone who knows how to do this?

The same way you would send any file to the different categories. Why do you
think that a newsletter would be different?

Sorry, I obviously didnt make my problem clear.

I have created lots of categories in outlook such as corporate clients,
private contacts etc. The reason I have done this is so that I can use that
information to direct specific information to relevant people. I want to
send the newsletter to all the people in one category, lets say 'corporate
clients'...in bulk, I don't want to do it one by one. I also don't want to
send the newsletter to private contacts.

So, when sending an email, whether it is through publisher or not, is there
any way to use the 'specific' details that I have entered in my outlook
contacts.

Create a distribution list to send mail to multiple recipients. In Outlook, on
the File menu, point to New, and then click Distribution List.

THank you Mary. I have been told that a distribution list is the way to go.
However, when creating a distribution list, how do I copy the contacts from
my category in outlook into a distribution list in address book?

When I try and create a new distribution list, and the list of names comes
up asking me who I want in the distribution list, there is no way of knowing
who is in which category, and if I went through them one by one it would take
me days.

Is there any way to copy and paste all the email contacts from one category
into the distribution list and then save that distribution list with a name
that I can recognise as that category?
THanks

Do you have your address book setup in categories?
You are going to have to swing on over to an Outlook group.

Hi Mary,
Basically I started categorising all my contacts so that I could send out
specific info to them. It now looks as tho that was a waste of time and that
I am going to have to start all over again with distribution lists.
I have looked at list builder, but I am a small one man business and don't
think I would get the benefit from all the things that it has to offer so
don't want to pay for it. I would rather use the technology that is already
available to me.
THanks
Matthew

Check out this newsgroup - microsoft.public.outlook.contacts. Most of the
MVP's there will tell you to use categories.
