Two triggers of the "Capitalize first letter of sentences" option is a
period or a paragraph mark at the end of a line. If there isn't a
period then turn on the nonprinting characters ( ¶ ) in the Standard
toolbar or press Ctrl + Shift + 8 and take a look at the end of each
line. If you see a paragraph symbol ¶ then there is a paragraph mark
at the end then that is what is causing the capitalization.
Regarding the spelling suggestions, the Spelling and Grammar checker
identifies potential spelling/grammar errors. It's up to you to
determine if the suggestions offered are correct.
Also keep in mind, spelling suggestions offered are based on how a
word is spelled in the document. Spell check simply supplies a list of
words that are a close match to the word that is not recognized in the
document. For example if I type the word "anonymous" as: "anomouys"
then the suggestions offered are:
anomies, amorous, animus, and enormous. The spelling needs to be close
to the word in order to get the correct spelling of the word
suggested.
The same is true of the grammar check - it can only work with what
it's been given and if the grammar in the document is really poor then
the suggestions offered will be poor.
