How do I set my computer to allow running Active X?

J

Jara

Hi,
every time I open a website, or try to send e-mail message, I get a window
asking: do you want to allow Active X controls and plug ins run on your
computer?
Since I have no idea what it means, I always answer: yes to continue. Is it
possible to set it up so I don't get those questions all the time? It is a
bit tedious.
Thanks,

JP

Hi, Jara;
Yes, it is possible.
Start> Control Panel> Internet Options> Security> Custom Level
You will see a series of items for which you can choose "disable," "enable,"
or "prompt." It is "prompt" which will cause the computer to ask you the
question. So choose here whether you want to disable or enable the function.
If you don't know what they mean, you may wish to get a knowledgeable friend
to make those choices. "Disable" is safer than "enable" if you are not sure.
"Prompt" is so you can choose at the time, depending how much you trust the
site you are viewing.
Or you can experiment with setting your security to "high," and see if that
solves your problem. I wouldn't recommend "low."
