How do I set Outlook so I can view JPEG's directly from an email?

I have checked that the programme - Windows Picture & Fax viewer is installed
and attached to JPEG's. I've gone into Tools - File Properties, to check that.

For some reason I cannot open a jpeg in outlook. The only way I can view it
is by 'save as' and then opening it in that folder.

please can someone help?

The setting I get for the jpg Open association in File Types is:
rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1

Use DDE - checked

Application: shimgvw

Topic: System

Checking "confirm open after download" helps with some other file types but
mine seems ok without it.
