how do I set up a auto incrementing field in protected word doc?

One of my users wants to create a Quote Word doc form with a field that
incresases only when the form is saved. She needs the ability to control the
number as it will not begin at 1 and may at some time need to be adjusted.

I have created a few simple forms with some vbs coding. On this form I have
created a Save commandbutton but I have not been successful trying to
increment the field and writing the result to a seperate file when the Save
button is clicked.

Thank you for locating that article. I kept looking for something with auto
incrementing, not thinking to look for sequentially numbered documents.
