How do I set up a book template printready

I need a book template into which I can insert a long document and it
automatically formats it ready for printing in the correct layout by pages.
Is it possible? if yes can someone explain how?

Maybe. By correct layout, do you mean you want to print a booklet that you
are then going to fold in half?
