How do I set up a macro to run a series of autotext entries

I would like to create a drop down menu from which numbers 1 - 40 can be
selected from an autotext list

I'm not sure of what you want exactly. If you want a list of numbers
such as:

1.
2.
3.
4.
etc

Then create them in a document, select the numbers, go to
Insert/AutoText/AutoText and create an AutoText entry.

If that's not what you are looking for then please provide some
additional details.
