How do I set up OE to retrieve my mail from Verizon DSL ?

My sytem is new; my provider is Verizon; my email is on the web; Word2003
does not like opening the attachments; and I have no clue how to pull my mail
into the computer other than laboriously copying each email into Word and
placing it into a folder on the hard drive. There has to be a better way.
