how do i set up vs 2005 to reverse engineer with visio?

I have Visio 2003 SP2 and VS 2005 installed on my computer. The help in Visio
says that to reverse engineer a VS project, select "Visio UML" from the
"Project" menu drop-down. However, that option does not appear. How do I set
up VS so that it knows Visio is there?

What version of v2003 do you have? Do you have vs2005 enterprise architect
edition, and if so did you install the visio from the vs2005 directory on
the install media?

Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003 SP@ (11.5509.8036)
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Version 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200)

They we pre-installed on my computer before I started at this job.

You should be able to do it in Visio by selecting the software uml template.
AFAIK the visio EA version registers itself with VS as part of the install.

I could not find an option to import from a program in the menu.

Thanks for your help anyway.

for clarification, you do not find file => new => software => uml model on
your visio menu. It sounds like you need to have them re-install visio.

I do have that menu item. However, after I open that template, I do not have
an option to reverse engineer. I have found documentation that indicates
Visio 2003 Professional does not have this option.

If you want to work with VS2005, you should have Visual Studio 2005 for
Software Architects that is provide with Visio 2003 for enterprise
Architect.
