How do I set Word so it doesn't open each document in a separate .

I would like to set MS Word so that it doesn't open a whole new window for
each document that is opened or created. I previously used Word 97, and it
allowed me to switch between multiple open files by simply accessing the
"window" menu. The proliferation of open windows is very annoying and messy.

If you don't have the option g-n-o refers to, see

2002/2003).
