AKA:

This can be both simple and complex. Frontpage allows users to protect
subwebs with passwords, Their host must support subswebs & setting
permissions on files & folders.
There are of course, other non-frontpage solutions (see Other Resource link
below for example), The example on www.webwizguide.info provides a logon
script using ASP & Microsoft Access database
