How do I setup a post office?

I am using windows 2000 O/S but office 97. I am trying to
setup a post office on a LAN but cannot find any info on
how to do so.

What is a "post office"?

Do you mean a mail server for sending/receiving mail?

If so, you need to setup a server running the various "post office"
protocols, e.g. POP3 and/or IMAP and SMTP. Any number of ways to do
this, but requires knowledge and skills more than can be conveyed in
this NG posting.
