How do I shade the area beneath a line drawn as a curve?

I've drawn a curve using the line tool in AutoShapes and want to be able to
shade the area directly beneath it. How do I do this?

Like a shadow effect? There's an option in PowerPoint 2007. But for 2003 and
below, you will need to do it manually. Have a look at:
