How do i skip a scheduled task in Project?

I am using a standard template of planning in Project 2002, one task of which
is not relevant to my current project. How do i skip the task (no dates)
while still leaving it in the task list?

How about setting its duration to 0d to turn it into a milestone. That will
set work and cost to zero as well.

If it's not relevant why keep it in the task list cluttering up the plan?
