How do I stop backgrounds changing automatically?

Hey guys

I'm using office 2k, and I'm trying to insert slides from one presentation
to another. The backgrounds are different, and they used to stay different,
even after being inserted, however just today the backgrounds changed
automatically to the background of the new presentation when inserted.

This is the first time this has happened, the backgrounds used to stay
different and I'm not sure why they're changing.

Thanks for your help

Hi JD,

Two possibilities jump to mind that would explain this.

1) You were using PowerPoint 2002/3 and changed back to 2000. While 2000
will display multiple masters in unedited presentation files brought over
from 2002/3, it will not create them or keep them when the file is edited.

2) The old backgrounds (the ones that transferred) were not inserted on the
master, but on the individual slides. You see, there are several ways for a
"background" picture to be created. It can be the background of the slide
master, it can be an image on the slide master (behind everything, of
course), it can be the background of the individual slide, or it can be an
image on the slide. Only the last two will transfer with inserted slides in
2000, but all 4 methods will transfer with 2002/3.
