how do i stop excel from turning a number into a date?

I'm entering a list of values which includes age bandings, eg 0-2, 3-7, 8-12.
Excel wants to turn the last two into dates ie 3 Jul and 8 Dec. How do i stop
this?

Well, you should probably post this in an Excel group -- this group is for
Outlook BCM.

That said -- try setting the format of the cells to something more specific.
Like "Number".
