How do I stop Outlook from retrieving multiple copies of my messages?

I am using Outlook 2003. I find that it downloads many copies of each message - anywhere from 2-3 to 8 or 10. I spoke to my ISP and they claim that it is an Outlook "issue".

Can anyone out there confirm that it is indeed Outlook related

Has anyone managed to find a fix for it

Do you have multiple accounts configured in Outlook that uses the same POP3
server or do you have just one account configured?
