when i use outlook 2000, if i am trying to open up a picture attachment that
someone has sent to me, it automatically opens it up with microsoft word, and
thus, i cannot see the picture. How do i change this default so that i can

What kind of files are these?
If you save them to your hard drive & then open them by double clicking on
them, what application opens up?

They are usually jpeg files, pictures that someone sends to me via a digital
camera.....before when i used to open them up you would get the pic right
away, now it opens up in microsoft word for windows.....so it is just a page
of symbols, etc....I am using outlook 2000. I think that someone may have
messed with my options/settings and changed it to a setting where word
automatically opens up all attachments..........please reply back if you know
anything helpful!
Thanks a million.

So did you try what I suggested?
You may need to re-associate .jpg / .jpeg with the correct application - I
don't know what you were using before.

It isn't an Outlook issue if you have the same problem when you save an
attachment & then double click it to open it - whatever is set as the
default application to handle that file type will launch & open the file.
You can control this in windows explorer - tools, folder options, file
types....
