How do I stop Works version 9 from double spacing after a word?

Using Works, whenever I type the word "bilateral", it almost always
automatically double spaces after the word. I've tried using auto correct
but it doesn't seem to recognize spacing errors. Any suggestions? I am a
medical transcriptionist and use this program daily, however I recently
acquired a new computer with this program. I used to use the old Word, but
being computer illiterate I have trouble with the new Word, so am using
Works, which is similar. Thanks for any help.

You can still get copies of old Word versions on Amazon Marketplace and
Ebay. If you have the original CD from the Word that you had before with
the Product Key then you should be able to install the product on your new
computer. "Bilateral"? Weird.

Using Works version 9, nothing special happens when I type "bilateral"
here... I just get exactly what I type, and no automatic double-spacing
afterward.

Is it possible that you have some 3rd party add-in that's running
interference?
