How do I switch from a vertical to horizontal display?

Kitten layed across keyboard. MS displayed vertical vice horizontal. I've
tried many combination of key strokes but cannot return my display to
horizontal.

I've dug deep into the display panel options.

Another symptom - the boot display is horizontal - it's only when Windows XP
boots that the display shifts to vertical.

Try using Alt+Shift + the left or right arrow keys.

Didn't work - I experimented on my good laptop which the keystrokes worked
on...but didn't correct my defunct laptop...thanks anyways

In that case, r-click desktop, Properties, Settings, Advanced,
"....Accelerator driver", Graphics properties(or the like) and then look
for "Rotation". (those last couple steps are driver specific and subject
to wording variations)
