I have an old Palm Vx. Can sync with my Macbook to Palm Desktop. Just need to
sync with Entourage to get all my contacts ported over.

Entourage includes a Handheld Synchronization conduit for synchronizing
tasks, notes, calendar events, and contacts between Entourage and Palm brand
devices (including Palm brand smartphones running Palm OS). The conduit is
compatible with the free HotSync Manager included with Palm devices.

After installing Entourage 2004, go to /Applications/Microsoft Office
2004/Additional Tools/, and launch the Handheld Sync Installer. That will
install the Handheld Synchronzation software.

You can then edit settings following these instructions.
1. Launch the HotSync Manager application (usually located in
/Applications/Palm)
2. Under the HotSync menu, choose Conduit Settings.
3. Double-click the "Entourage Conduit" entry.
Ultimately trying to
be able to do a sync with a Blackberry Curve. Any thoughts out there?

Follow these instructions to enable Sync Services.
1. Go to Entourage > Preferences.
2. Under "General Preferences", select "Sync Services".
3. Check the appropriate options to synchronize contacts, events, tasks, and
notes.

Then, get Mark/Space Missing Sync for Blackberry, which works with Sync
Services to allow you to synchronize Entourage data with certain RIM
BlackBerry devices.

Mickey,

I've been sync'ing Entourage and various Palms for years, doing
exactly what you recommend above.

However, I've just gotten a new MacBook Pro running Leopard. I've
installed the Palm software for my Palm Treo 680, and I installed
Office 2004. I then installed Handheld Sync. Everything looks as it
should. I go into HotSync Manager, select my entourage identity for my
corresponding palm identity. I sync, and everything syncs up, except
Entourage.

In the sync log, I get this message:

Before you can synchronize with the applications on this handheld
device, you must enable synchronization in the Entourage Conduit
Settings dialog box. For the latest information on compatibility
issues and solutions, visit the Office 2004 Web Site synchronization
failed
Entourage Conduit synchronization failed
“Entourage Conduit” failed (error = #-1)

I've already enabled synchronization. Any ideas?

Some of the new Palm devices including yours have "Organizer Plus"
applications. Unlike previous Palm devices, these new Palm devices include
Calendar, Contacts, Memos, and Tasks. They also have new features that are
not recognized by the Handheld Synchronization conduit.

To avoid accidental data loss, synchronization between Entourage 2004 and
Palm's new handhelds is consequently turned off by default. Follow this
procedure to turn on synchronization after both Palm synchronization
software and the Microsoft Handheld Synchronization software have been
installed:
1. Launch the HotSync Manager application (usually located in
/Applications/Palm)
2. Under the HotSync menu, choose Conduit Settings.
3. Double-click the "Entourage Conduit" entry.
4. Near the bottom, check the option to "Enable synchronization with these
new handhelds."
5. Click OK.

Hi JR,

Yes, I ran that exact installer. It's a funny thing, because I've set
up this whole Palm/Entourage thing on several computers over the
years, and it always worked fine. This is the first time I've seen the
Entourage conduit fail.

The way I've done it (and always did it before) is to copy my
Entourage identity over to the new computer, in its proper place. Then
I install Handheld Sync. Then I go into HotSync manager, and make sure
that my Entourage identity is linked to my Palm identity. Then I sync,
and usually everything works fine. However, this time everything
synced apart from the Entourage conduit.

Note: My problem is solved. It was because I hadn't clicked ""Enable
synchronization with these new handhelds." in the Entourage sync
settings.
