How do I synchronize Outlook Tasks with My BlackBerry?

C

craighero

I operate Outlook and BlackBerry off of my desktop. All other items
synchornize without a problem - but not my tasks. I get an error message and
Outlook shuts down every time I try this.

Contacted BlackBerry support already?
Note that BlackBerry software hasn't been made compatible with Outlook 2007
yet.

C

craighero

I have contacted BlackBerry - not much help. I am using Outlook 2003 so the
2007 issues do not apply.

What is the exact error message and what is being logged to the Event Viewer
regarding this?

I get a Microsfot Visual C++ Runtime Library drop down box and it sales:

Runtime Error
Program Files\ResearchInMotion\BlackBerry\Desktopmgr.exe
Abnormal Program Termination

In the log the calendar synchs but the task list from Outlook is read and
the log simply stops

Are you using a pst-file to store your Outlook items in or an Exchange
account? If a pst-file use scanpst.exe to scan the pst-file for errors and
then try syncing again.

I am using pst files. Where would I locate scanpst.exe? it is not in the
BlackBerry directory.

Okay - I found it. It requests the name of the file - I am assuming I would
have it repair the tasks.pst file - is that correct? I hate to sound stupid
- but where would I locate that file?

No, you set it to fix whatever your pst-file is. You can look this up by
using File-> Data File Management in Outlook. Make sure you make a backup
first and have Outlook closed when doing the repair.

Okay - I finally got around to doing this - I ran the repair utility and it
did not change anything - I still get the same error as below when I attempt
to synch tasks with the BlackBerry. What else can I try?
