How do I terminate future additions to message strings?

I sometimes receive Outlook messages that prompt multiple responses from
others, none of which I'm interested in. Is there a way to prevent receipt
of future additional responses, after I've decided I don't care about the
topic (other than setting up a rule each time)? (Our proprietary mail system
has a "terminate" command, for example, which stops all future responses to
that message from coming to me.)

No, you'd need a rule to delete them. you could flag or categories them and
then use a custom view to make them less visible. It might be a bit
faster... but pressing the Del key is quite fast and effective too. :)
