If you are in Word, use File | Save As... and using the drop-down list,
chose the Drive A.

Wrong answer. That is a good way to trash your floppy and lose your file.
You may get away with it a few times but eventually the odds will catch up
with you.

Why would that trash the floppy? FWIW, I've been saving Word docs to
floppy using that method since Office 2.0 and haven't had a problem...

It only depends on how large the file is. If it's greater than 1.44MB ...
you can't ... but it won't 'trash' the floppy disk. It will just tell you
'not enough free space'.

I just love people who just say 'Wrong answer' and not go into detail why
it's wrong!

I will quote a fellow MVP, Herb Tyson (Word)

"Your computers are trying to give you some good advice. One should *never*
work directly with a file that's on a floppy. This is the #1 cause of
document corruption. That's because Word (assuming that's what you're
talking about) creates temporary files -- often many many times larger than
the original file -- in which pieces of the document are stored. If Word
runs out of space on the floppy... bam! Instant corruption. If you remove a
floppy before the document is fully closed... bam! Instant corruption.

The only safe thing is to use Windows Explorer to copy the files to your
hard drive, work with the files on your hard drive, then close them. Then
use Windows Explorer to copy them back to the floppy."

Herb has written several books on Office programs and Windows. He knows what
he's talking about.

The file.

Open Windows Explorer, left click on the Word doc file and hold the
button down, pull the file over to the Floppy drive icon (drag) and
release(drop). the file is copied to the floppy.

For more info please look up "dragging files" in Help and Support, and
then pick the "Move files by dragging" link.
