How do I transfer my Outlook Address Book between computers?

My old Dell desktop is running Outlook Express 6. My new Dell desktop is
running Outlook 2003. When I "exported" the address book from Express, it
was written as a ".wab" file. I managed to transfer the file to the new
machine, but the Import function of Outlook doesn't seem to recognize it.
What am I doing wrong?

I tried using the F.A.S.T. Wizard, but I seem to have the wrong cable. :-(
I used a "USB Link Cable" to transfer files, but it doesn't seem to work for
settings, preferences, etc. Any and all help appreciated. Jerry in New
Orleans

You're using the wrong program to import it. Outlook can't process WAB
(Windows Address Book) files. Only Outlook Express can. You have a couple
of choices: load the WAB into Outlook Express on the new computer, then
import it from Outlook Express using Outlook (File>Import and
Export>Internet Mail and Addresses) or export it again from Outlook Express
in the old machine but use either the Personal Address Book format or the
comma-separated value format and import that into Outlook on the new
machine. Don't export from the address book itself. Export with Outlook
Express's File>Export>Addresses item.
