how do I transfer pdf pictures to my foto editor ?

Nothing to do with Word. However, you cannot edit a .pdf image in the way
that you want to. If you get Snagit from www.techsmith.com, you could print
the .pdf with the Snagit Printer and save it as a .jpg file which would you
could then open in your photo editor. Don't expect super high resolution
however.

Even without using SnagIt, depending on the degree of protection applied to
the pdf, the version of Acrobat or Acrobat reader being used, etc., it is
often possible to select an image while viewing a pdf and copy it to the
clipboard.

For example, using Adobe Reader 8, I usually can marquee select all or part
of any given image, right-click the selected portion and choose Copy Image,
and then paste into Word.
