How do I turn off Auto Correct?

John

Hello. Every time I type (c), Word automatically tunrs it into the copyright
symbol. Could you please tell me how to turn this annoying and
counterproductive feature off? Thank you.

In Word 2003 look under "Tools".

In Word 2007, Office button - Word Options - Proofing - AutoCorrect
Options - AutoCorrect tab. Find the (c) entry and delete it.

In Word 2003, Tools - AutoCorrect Options - AutoCorrect tab, etc.

If you are only interested in an autocorrect that does not occur too
often, you can give CTRL-Z after the correction appears or else remove
that one autocorrection from the list as Herb suggests. I find
autocorrect too useful to do without.

Right. AutoCorrect saves me tons of typing (and tons of typing mistakes).
But, there are some for which I have no need, and feel no compunction about
keeping. In this case, it seemed that (c) was creating more work than it
could ever save... so I responded precisely to how to zap that one. When
I'm writing a report, however, there are phrases that I have to use
repeatedly, and AutoCorrect is my sanity's constant salvation.
