How do I turn on RECENT FILES option

Office 2007: the Recent Files option is dimmed out. How do I turn it on? I've
tried the RUN ALL FROM MY COMPUTER option in the control panel, that didn't
work. I'm using WinXP Home. I'm the only user on a non-networked PC.

You may not have any enabled. Click the Office Button, Word Options, advanced
button, scroll down to Display, type a number in the Show this number of Recent
Documents.

I understand what you're saying but the option is dimmed out, I can't change
it. Since my post I've run the OFFICE 2007 repair and RUN ALL FROM MY
COMPUTER but the option remains dimmed out.

Hi W.,

In Office 2007 this can be caused, as it was in prior versions, from a bit of influence from TWEAKUI (and similar 3rd party) product
settings.

A co-worker had already referred me to this article. I completely
uninstalled Tweak UI, removed the reference in the Registry but I still
cannot activate the Recent Files List. All other fuctions in Office 2007 Pro
appear to working as they should. I can see the entry on the ADVANCE setting
options but can't activate it. This is the case in Excel, Word, Publisher,
PowerPoint, Access. Thanks.

It will be good if you can try a detect and repair after you uninstall the
Tweak UI and make the necessary changes.
