how do I type within a template w/o everything moving around?

I've downloaded a template (purchase order) and now I want to start inputting
information into the template such as vendor name, address, etc.; however,
when I begin to type everything in the template moves around. What do I need
to do to the template to stop it from "moving around" and distorting the
purchase order format.
