How do I Uninstall Office Pre Release 12 totally

D

Dustydot

I cannot install Office 2007 owing to the fact that I previously had the Pre
Release version 12 installed some months ago.
I had difficulty in removing that version.
I have deleted every reference I can find on my computer to Office 12
without success, I still get the message to remove it when I try to install
2007.

Well I haven't tried the Clean up yet because I am able to install Office Xp,
but when I try 2007 I still get the message about not being able to update
from the Beta version (Office 12).
Anyway thanks for your help so far.

You might just have forgotten to remove a piece, e.g. the PDF add-in or
Expression Web. See the appropriate section in my RTM issues post linked
below.

The full story is I installed an early version of Pre Release 12 then when I
tried to uninstall I couldn't, so I just removed the files and some registry
entries. I reinstalled Office XP and it worked fine, then I tried 2007 with
the already mentioned result. Having now done everything to remove the
remnants of Office 12 I stiil get the message "Cant upgrade etc." when I try
to install 2007.
I even obtained a copy of Office 12 and tried to reinstall but now get a
message "Counted_ptr cannot apply operater '->' to an empty object pointer"
Anybody got any ideas.

sounds to me as thought you have a broken install
you can try the 'clean-up' utility at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

:

I followed the instructions step by step but I still cannot install 2007.

Use the manual removal steps: http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/13/79
But first, check this KB:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/927222/en-us
It might give you a faster resolution to your problem.
