How do I unlock a locked file?

I am working in a spreadsheet that is shared. When I change information in
the cells...and then try to save it tells me that the file is locked and to
try again later. I have checked there is no protection and it is not a
readonly file. This is the only file that is doing this on my server..

I tried that. I saved as new name, opened it, tried to make the changes I
wanted to make and it said that the file was unreadable. Thank you for your
response.

something on the "other side" (your server) perhaps its the windows search
indexer??? is working on the file

Or do you have google desktop or some other search program that indexes
files?

what version of windows is your "server" ?

if it has indexing, disable it for a moment and see if this stops

Unfortunately, I have no idea about any of this.....I have our network tech
coming in to take a look at it.
