How do I unlock my documents?

The toolbar icons do not allow me to click them, and I can not save, as well
as many other menu commands. My documents are in outline view, however it
won't allow me to click the 'unlock' icon and in properties it is not
write-protected or read-only. I can not edit any of my documents.

Have you activated Word? Is this a time limited demo that has expired?
