how do I upgrade from academic license to commercial license

I purchased office pro 2007 academic but am now will be starting a home
business and want to purchase a commercial license for office pro 2007. How
do I do that?

Buy it from a store or online reseller.

I know that I hae to buy a new media less license key but how do I load the
new license when Office 2007 Pro says that it is already activated. Do I
remove Office and reload it and put in the new key or is there some trick so
I don't have to uninstall and reinstall.

You will need to Uninstall-Install. Your settings will remain, as will
your documents, BUT you should ALWAYS have a back-up copy of your documents.
