How do I use a different server?

I appreciate your reply, but don't know you to comply with your
suggestion to use a different server.

Can you get me started?

Some ISPs (such as the one I use) offer Usenet access via multiple
news servers, so you can set your newsreader program to grab postings
from a different server. Others only offer one. If your ISP only offers
one, then you'll need to find another one. For example, Eternal-September.org
is a popular free news service.

It's pretty nice and efficient.
Free (but only offers support for text-only newsgroups - no binary!)

True! I didn't think about that because I don't use any binary groups,
but that could be a problem for some people.

There are some low-cost news servers that do offer binaries, though,
aren't there?

I'm sure there are some out there. I don’t have much use for binaries
so it's something I haven't investigated myself.
