How Do I use Excel Data to Color Shapes in Visio?

I have data in an Excel Spreadsheet, and would like to change the color of a
Visio shape based on the value in the spreadsheet. Firstly, how do I link
from the spreadsheet to Visio generally (Tried the Macros > Visio Extras >
Connect to database but this doesn't like to play with Excel spreadsheets).

Then how do I get my shape to be different depending on the value?

Is there a step-by-step guide? Is it even possible!?

Thanks

Ben

can it be done, a very definite yes. If you open the building plan => home
plan and then examine tools => addons => building plan you will find a color
by value addon that will accept excel spreadsheets as input. Don't get too
concerned about how you got here. The thing about this addon is that it
examines the shape that has been selected for what custom properties have
been defined and then allows the user to identifiy what colors to apply to
it. Have fun....

My apologies, I should have said I'm using Visio 2002 SR-1 so don't have the
Tools > Add Ons menu option.

Is there a way with my version?
