How do multiple users save in a record in a form at the same time?

Hi,
I have been trying to set up our access database to support multiple
users at the same time. What I would like to happen is allow a number of
people and myself have access to ACCESS at the same time (be logged in),
enter what ever records we need to in the form and then save at the same
time. Instead of having 1 person at a time in access and saving it when ever
the other person is out. Can someone please help with how to fix this? (I do
not know how to code in access, but I am fairley capable with most of the
features). I am currently runnig Access 2003, and I stopped using a .mdb file
and started using the workgroup .mdw file.

Thank you in advance for your help,
Mark

Mark,

Try Tools, Then Options, Advanced tab, and under “default open mode” select
radio button shared. This should work

Hi,
Thank you for your immediate response, I have tried that and all the does
is allow the other users to look at the records in the form, but they cannot
save any additional records or delete any. I tried creating a workgroup, but
not sure how that works exactly.

Any additional help will be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Mark

Mark,
Have you tried to set the “default record locking” to no locks?

Yes I have. I tried no locks and edited records. I also had the box checked
next to record level locking and tried it off as well. For some reason it
does not want to connect and allow both of us to add to the database at the
same time. Am I suppose to be using a Workgroup file or a regular MDB file? I
tried both and it is still not working.
I also tried to connect using workgroup administrator linking the databases
to one mdw file.

I don’t know what to tell you then.

My DDE operations are set to enable DDE refresh, Default file format is
Access 2002-2003, default open mode is shared, default record locking No
Locks, open databases using record-level locking is checked, OLE/DDE timeout
(sec): 30, Refresh interval (sec) 60, Number of update retries: 2, ODBC
refresh interval (sec): 1500, and Update retry interval (msec): 250, and I
have had no problem sharing database with other user.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help
