How do you Compact and repair databases

Depends on what version you are using but pre-2007 it should be
something like Tools | Database Utilities | Compact and Repair

The answer depends on the version of Access that you are using. In Access
2000/2002/2003, click on Tools | Database Utilities...| Compact and repair
database. In Access 2007, click on the Office Button thingy, then select
Manage and then Compact and repair database.

You might want to backup the file first.
Open the Access database, click on menu TOOLS - Database Utilities, Compact
and Repair Databases.
