How do you delete a password?

G

Gitmo

1. I created a password and now want to delete it.
2. If the password stays will it follow the file even if I revise the titel.
(i.e. add a rev to it)

Hi Gitmo,

To remove the password. Open the file and choose File >Save As. Click the
Tools drop down and choose General Options. Delete the password and save it
with the same name (without the password).

To you second question, yes. If a password protected file is saved under a
new name, the password stays.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I tried to delete the password - save as, tools, general options and I
recieved the
save options screen. No delete icon, tried to enter with password & write
reservbation password blank & save - no luck - tried to delete with delete
key and save - still received "can't save -read only.

Hi Gitmo,

I am sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear enough. You must open the Project file
by entering the original password first. Then to remove you'll Save As> then
delete the **** that appears and re-save the file.

I hope this helps.

I just tried this technique in PRoject 2007 and it does not remove the
password on a file. I deleted the password in the Password PRotection dialog
box and then saved to the same file name. THe next time I open the document,
it asks for a password. To enable the OK button, I have to type something and
the old password still works.

Hi Bonnie,

I believe this has been reported as a bug in Project 2007. I would
imagine this would be fixed in an upcoming service pack. For the time
being, I would strongly recommend staying away from password protecting
Project 2007 files due to this error and some reported crashing
problems.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
