how do you enable VB macros in word 2000?

I'm in VB editor. when I click "Debug" I can't compile or run my macros.
How do I enable macros?

To run a macro completely through, place the insertion point somewhere in
the body of the macro code and press F5. To walk through one step at a
time, press F8 repeatedly. If nothing's happening, you probably have your
security setting on High. You can change that from the document side of
Word, under Tools>>Macro>>Security.

The other way to run a macro is to use the menu under Tools>>Macro. Select
from the list and hit Edit to bring it up, or Run to run it.
