how do you get visio gantt to read excel properly?

i have a task list specifically filled in using the GANTT template output
format. the column headers are exactly what it is looking for, yet everytime
i try to import the excel file, it tells me i don't have the proper headers.

short of throwing my laptop out the window, i am at a loss.

Hi Kerry --
Hmmm. Laptops can be expensive. As a sanity check, you might try this.
Create a new Gantt chart in Visio from scratch, i.e., not importing an data.
Number of rows isn't important. Setup the columns that you desire. Then,
export this chart. Let this become a "template" for your Excel data. Copy
and paste your data, save as a new file. Close it. Go back to Visio, and
import this new file. Should be OK. You can compare the template with your
old file for header discrepancies.

Hope this helps. (If it does, you owe me a new laptop? Just kidding.)
