how do you get word to download so it's readable?

I am have problems when downloading to word from the internet it's not
readable. It comes in codes and a different language.

Can you describe more fully what you're doing? Can you give us the steps
you're following? Are you downloading .DOC files? Are you trying to copy
from a browser (which one & which version) and paste into Word? Are you
trying to copy from some other application (which one?) and paste into Word?
Also, it would help if you could tell us what version of Word you're using.
