How do you import eps files into word?

I am trying to import eps files created in Adobe Illustrator. I have
selected the option for a TIFF preview but I see a blank box in Word. I
believe I have istalled the filter. Please help!

Hi Elizabeth,

In Word 2002 and 2003 Word's EPS filter renders the
graphic without using the preview, but there are some
features/versions that may not be supported from Illustrator.
What Postscript level are you using? How are you inserting
the graphics and what version of Word are you using?

Do the graphics print correctly.

I am using Adobe Illustrator CS2...the default is level 2. I am inserting
the figure into word by going to insert>picture>from file. I have Microsoft
Office 2003. The figures do print correctly but it is hard to place them on
the screen with the blank box. I have been messing around with it for a
while and it seems to work when I save the eps files as version 8.0, but I
would expect to be able to see CS2 eps files also. Thanks so much for the
help. I've been trying to figure this one out for a while now.

FWIW, I found that some EPS files neither displayed nor printed unless I
selected the PS driver for my printer.

The files do print but they are not visible on the screen. My eps files
import from MATLAB show their TIFF preview (i think). They show a poor
resolution image, but when I try to do the same thing with eps files created
in Adobe Illustrator CS2 I see a blank box.

This is the exact same behaviour I've been experiencing. For EPS files
higher than Illustrator 8.0, Word 2003 won't display them on-screen (but they
print OK)

I suspect it's a bug in Word's EPS import filter.
