First Import the image into FP (usually into your Image folder), then insert it into your design in Normal mode - from the image folder. Don't scale your graphics images with FP. You need to figure out what size you want and scale it in an image editor before you import it...sounds like the long road...but it's the best way.

Avoid using FP to scale your image - well, you can but FP is not really good as an image editor. Sometimes I will use FP to scale the image for sizing, then read the properties of the image to find out what size I need...then redo it in Photoshop...or whatever image editor you desire to use.

BTW, .gifs don't rescale very well and you should resize before you convert to gif. Personally I work with very large .tiffs and convert to ..jpgs or .gifs for the web as the very last thing I do before Importing and Inserting.

Yes, you're doing it correct; place your cursor where you want the image to appear.

What exactly are you expecting them to do by themselves? If you can tell us
that, we can tell you how to make the graphics do what you want. "scale like
a table would" is not descriptive enough to answer.

right click the image, and you can change the properties - i.e. dimensions -
using pixels or % just as you do with tables.

To centre the image in the table cell, you then have to choose the alignment in
table (cell) properties, select 'centre' for horizontal-centre alignment and
"middle" for vertical-centre alignment.
