How do you modify the default phone number format in Outlook?

On one PC when you enter the correct # of digits in a phone field, it is not
accepted as a US looking number. On other PC's, it does "automatically,"
rather than require the check phone number popup.

Configure your Modem and Dialing properties correct in Windows and Outlook
should format the number correctly.

In the "Phone and Modem Options" in Control Panel or do you mean elsewhere?
The settings in Phone and Modem Options don't seems to have many options.
Please clarify.

That's where I mean. Enter your Country/region value and area code properly
and Outlook should use them.
