How do you navigate from column to column in word?

Help...all I want to know is how to tab from COLUMN to COLUMN. I know that
there is a way to do it but it has been a while!!! The tab button just takes
me to the bottom of the page.

You can tab from cell to cell in a table, but not in newspaper-type columns.
