how do you split a cell?

I have a few forms that I made for work and need to modify a few things. I
was wondering if it is possible to split a cell without changing the column
width and inserting a new column and changing that width to keep the form
format correct. Nobody here at works has any idea so the next best place to
ask is here. Thank you in advance for any answers.

Super,

You can insert another column, then adjust the width of the two columns to
equal that of the original column. To insert a column, select the column to
the right of where you want to insert, then do Insert - Columns. Now to
adjust any column width, drag the border, up in the header (A, B, C...).

Thanks for the info, Karl, but in my post I specifically stated I did not
want to go that route. I want to split one single cell without adding a
column and adjusting widths. I do appreciate your answer.

Supervisor, you can not split a cell in excel, you can center across
selection or merge cells, would that help?

Super,

I wasn't sure which you were asking about. Unfortunately, you can't split a
single cell. You can in a table in Front Page, or in Word, but not in
Excel. If you absolutely have to, you could put another column, then merge
all the cells except the one where you want a split. This isn't really
recommended, as merged cells are generally troublesome, and avoided by most
folks.
