How do you update POP files for Outlook 2002 Mail client?

I am setting up my new Dell Laptop. I installed Office 2002 with Outlook. I
set it up to exchange with GMAIL and followed all instructions and duplicated
the settings from my old Dell Laptop. It recieves from GMAIL but will not
send mail out.
I have looked for a POP update download from MSFT but to no avail. I think
its something else. Anyone recognize this?

You just want to make sure that you have installed the latest service and
security hotfixes for Office/Outlook 2002. (If memory serves me right,
Office XP made it as far as Service Pack 3)
