How does groove treat files?

Hi all, could someone advise please?

I take a file from my documents and add it to my groove workspace. Great!
Now the others can change & use etc etc etc, YET, it seems to me that this
file is a SEPERATE copy inside groove. It has NO LINK or SYNC to the
original. Quite literally I can DELETE the original! Is this correct and
normal for groove, and if so, am I correct in assuming that I have no need
for MY DOCUMENTS folder anymore, if I'm going to be working in groove
workspaces only?

If so, my other question: if files are inside groove workspaces, you CANNOT
add them as attachments to an email anymore! How does one circumvent this?
The only way you can is by "sending" the file from groove workspace to an
email recipient, but what if I want to send different files from different
workspaces in the same email? See my dilemma?

Is this issue addressed in the helpfile/users guide? Should I read up there?

Thanks all
Cheers

Hi there,

When you make a copy of a document from your directory (say, from My
Documents) into a Files tool in a Standard Groove space, this copy is a
completely separate document that has no reference to the original. If you
have other members in the space, they also receive a version of this new
document, but they receive updated changes to the document as they are made.
Any changes made to the original document outside of Groove will not be
updated to other space members as it is a separate document from the one that
is in the Groove space.

Because data in Groove spaces is encrypted, you will not be able to attached
documents directly to your email. You can either save a copy of the document
from the Groove workspace to your directory, or you can use Groove file
Sharing Spaces. These spaces allow you to turn a folder on your directory
into a Groove spaces – note that this will not work on 64 bit computers.
