How does one actually upgrade to Standardedition from home edition when one owns bothversions?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have the home edition installed on my computer and need to use exchange 2003. I tried running the install for 2008 standard, and it did not ask for a new product key, but completed the new installation in about 1 minute. I couldnt use Exchange with Entourage, so I removed the old product key and installed the new one. Still can't use Exchange in Entourage, but it tells me to go the Mactopia website to learn about upgrading to standard. Mactopia has nothing about the actual mechanics of this.

Do I need to completely uninstall Office and risk losing all my data?

Thanks!

Running Remove Office does not touch your data. In fact, running RO in
Office 2008doesn't remove several items. See this page for details:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/install/remove_office.html>

There are two files you can try deleting manually that would allow you to
enter your new key.

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/version/license_version.html#reset>

After you remove these two files, you might need to do the re-install of
Office. If you don't see the option to add an Exchange account, then you
didn't fully update.
